As if the upcoming Ashes series between arch rivals England and Australia which starts in Cardiff in a little over a weeks' time isn't going to be exciting enough, tourlegends has launced the 'Ashes Fantasy Cricket League'.
This exciting fantasy competition gives you the opportunity to select and manage your very own fantasy XI and test your skills against hundreds of other players in the competition.

tourlegends users now have more opportunities to share with the latest release of Facebook Connect - an application allowing tourlegends members to publish information directly to Facebook.
In addition to the functionality released with its launch last week, Facebook Connect users now can publish stories to Facebook when they:
- Create a Fantasy League Competition
- Associate themselves with a club
- Add themseleves to a tour
- Add their club to a tournament
Although many of our tourlegends users support the phrase 'what goes on tour, stays on tour..!' - ultimately most of us also like to show off just a little!
For those users who can't resist sharing their sporting and touring exploits with 200+ million users on Facebook, we have now implemented Facebook Connect - an application whereby users of both sites can 'sync' their accounts allowing them to selectively (!) publish photos, stories and status updates from tourlegends to Facebook.
As of today tourlegends users can now share the following actions with their FB friends:
- A change in their status update
- Create a club
- Create a tournament
- Create a tour
- Add a photo to the user profile
- Create a one-time event (social etc)
- Create a recurring event (i.e. weekly training)
- Create a fixture list (i.e. a league table/ladder)
Users connect their tourlegends and facebook accounts simply by clicking the Facebook 'F' on the tourlegends homepage and signing in with their FB log-in.
We are considering adding more user actions to our Facebook Connect interface and would love to hear from you what you would like to share from tourlegends to your FB friends!
Today we release 'transfer windows' to our fantasy cricket league (FCL) functionality. This enhancement enables league administrators to create a transfer window (a defined time period) during which up to 20 transfers per team can be made. Users are then able to transfer players in and out of their fantasy teams to enhance their chances of topping their club's fantasy cricket league!
We expect this will add a whole new layer of excitement for our FCL users and a whole heap of additional banter at the sidelines...
Although many of our tourlegends users support the phrase 'what goes on tour, stays on tour..!' - ultimately we also like to show off (a little!) For those users who can't resist sharing their sporting and touring exploits with 200+ million users on Facebook, we have now implemented Facebook Connect for their user status update. Now when users update their status on tourlegends they are prompted to post the same update on their Facebook profile.
We are working on adding more opportunities to post certain user actions from tourlegends to Facebook. See 'In Development Now'
The number of iterations and hours spent on getting the home page and registration page 'just right' are mind-boggling and yet our wonderful Google Analytics stats showed us that prospective users quickly navigated away rather than registered!
So back to the drawing board and enter the 'two-step' registration process. Rather than one long sign-up page, now users will be encouraged to tell us a little bit about themselves on the home page and then complete a few more lines on the next page.
For our registered users who can't or won't remember different user names and passwords for different sites, they can now link their facebook and tourlegends creditials and log in using their facebook information.
This is in addition to the OpenID which already allows users to link their Yahoo ID and many other existing ID's to tourlegends and use one they can easily remember!
We also 'jazzed up' the home page a bit by adding a funky globe and some athletes' silhouettes - representing 'connecting global sports'. If you 'mouse-over' or click on the next athlete, the global the type of ball changes to the ball used in that particular sport. (Sorry it's a bit geeky but we really liked that!)
Lastly we decided to make it easier for users to find us so we added links to our home page to tourlegends on other platforms such as FaceBook, Twitter, YouTube and of course this blog!
Now each user is able to add friends to their sports friends box on their user profile. The sports friends replace 'My tourlegends'. To make it easier for users to invite their Facebook friends to join them on tourlegends we have activated "Facebook friend portability". With a click of a button users can now invite their FB friends - the more people start using this link, the more friends users can invite at one time. Unfortunately Facebook control the flow of friends based on popularity!!
In addition, there is now a sports friends tab on the 'club news' page so users can have a sneak peek at their sports friends sporting achievements and other activities on tourlegends!
