Although many of our tourlegends users support the phrase 'what goes on tour, stays on tour..!' - ultimately we also like to show off (a little!) For those users who can't resist sharing their sporting and touring exploits with 200+ million users on Facebook, we have now implemented Facebook Connect for their user status update. Now when users update their status on tourlegends they are prompted to post the same update on their Facebook profile.
We are working on adding more opportunities to post certain user actions from tourlegends to Facebook. See 'In Development Now'
Now each user is able to add friends to their sports friends box on their user profile. The sports friends replace 'My tourlegends'. To make it easier for users to invite their Facebook friends to join them on tourlegends we have activated "Facebook friend portability". With a click of a button users can now invite their FB friends - the more people start using this link, the more friends users can invite at one time. Unfortunately Facebook control the flow of friends based on popularity!!
In addition, there is now a sports friends tab on the 'club news' page so users can have a sneak peek at their sports friends sporting achievements and other activities on tourlegends!
The number of iterations and hours spent on getting the home page and registration page 'just right' are mind-boggling and yet our wonderful Google Analytics stats showed us that prospective users quickly navigated away rather than registered!
So back to the drawing board and enter the 'two-step' registration process. Rather than one long sign-up page, now users will be encouraged to tell us a little bit about themselves on the home page and then complete a few more lines on the next page.
For our registered users who can't or won't remember different user names and passwords for different sites, they can now link their facebook and tourlegends creditials and log in using their facebook information.
This is in addition to the OpenID which already allows users to link their Yahoo ID and many other existing ID's to tourlegends and use one they can easily remember!
We also 'jazzed up' the home page a bit by adding a funky globe and some athletes' silhouettes - representing 'connecting global sports'. If you 'mouse-over' or click on the next athlete, the global the type of ball changes to the ball used in that particular sport. (Sorry it's a bit geeky but we really liked that!)
Lastly we decided to make it easier for users to find us so we added links to our home page to tourlegends on other platforms such as FaceBook, Twitter, YouTube and of course this blog!
Sports social networking site tourlegends.com announces the launch of Fantasy Cricket, a free application which enables cricket fans & players to create and manage a fantasy cricket competition within their club or amongst friends. Singapore, Singapore
( PRWEB ) May 3, 2009 -- Sports social networking site tourlegends.com announces the launch of tourlegends Fantasy Cricket, a free application which enables cricket fans & players to create and manage a fantasy cricket competition within their club or amongst friends.
To play a user must be registered on tourlegends and be associated with at least one sports club or team. To start a new league, users simply add the application to their club profile, create a list of players within their club and assign each one a value between 1 and 10 (10 = the better player). A player's value is based on the ability of the player to score points through 'real-life' performances with bat, ball and in the field. Club members then select their fantasy XI from the list and compete against each other to see who was able to pick the most successful team.
To award points the league creator inputs the 'real life' performances of players into the system which then automatically calculates how many points each players has scored, updates teams with the appropriate points and refreshes league tables.
The application allows for users to exchange banter with each other on the fantasy cricket competition message board as well as to send virtual trophies and gifts to weekly/monthly winners and overall champions.
"With the cricket clubs in the northern hemisphere starting their season in the coming weeks, a fantasy cricket league is a fun way of adding a bit of extra excitement to the season," says tourlegends founder, Nellie Rogers.
Singapore, March 22, 2009 -- Orange Orbit Pte Ltd, announces the launch of tourlegends, a social networking site which connects sports people and clubs worldwide. Users share sporting achievements, take advantage of free powerful tools to organize events, sports fixtures, tours and tournaments and raise funds for their club or tour.
